This course is conducted in its entirety outdoors at our Colchester Training Area (CTA) and will provide the participant with technical firearms training within both of these weapons platforms for self-defense and protection. Participants will learn the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to deploy these weapons systems within a violent confrontation with increased precision and effectiveness.
Pre-requisites: either a state issued permit to carry firearms or an NRA or similar firearms safety course certificate.
Handgun / AR15 style rifle topics covered:
· Basic safety and laser rule
· Drawing from the holster
· Controlled pairs and hammers
· Multiple shot placements
· Reloading and stoppage clearing
· Alternate shooting positions
· Shooting on the move
· Vocalization and engaging
· Deployment from the ready position (high / low)
· Transitioning between weapons systems while moving
· Vocalization and engaging threats
Duration: 8-10 hours
Tuition: $150.00 (Lunch is included in cost)
Ammunition: 300 rounds handgun / 300 rounds rifle
Equipment required: One set wrap around eye and ear protection, one semi-automatic handgun and minimum 3 magazines. One on the waist holster and magazine pouch. One AR15 or other combat style rifle and 3 magazines. One three point or single point tactical sling. One Baseball style hat, poncho or other inclement weather gear. (Note taking materials, dump pouch and tactical thigh holster recommended but not required). A discount of 10% will be given to participants on all ammunition if purchased through Grey Wolf. Also firearms and tactical gear are available for rental for a small fee. Rain or shine, wear outdoor clothing.
