This course of instruction is designed to provide the particpant with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude required to properly and effectively use less lethal chemical munitions within a riot or crowd control environment.
The overall focus of the munitions within this course of instruction are based upon those manufactured by Defense Technologies.
Some of the core components of this program include:
- The development of departmental or Unit policies & procedures for use
- The use of protective equipment: respirators, gasmasks and Filters
- Dispersion device nomenclature
- Proper storage of chemical munitions
- Chemical agent concentration and dispersion formulas
- Disposal procedures for outdated munitions
- The basic forms of chemical agents & dispersion methods
- Defensive agent color code identification
- Types & effects of defensive chemical agents
- Operational guidelines
- Defensive sprays & the law
- Methods of deployment
- First Aid & Decontamination
